Posh,

You identify a true Christian by their profession of Christ cruicified, Christ risen and Christ as their risen Lord. If you have accept these things and believe that He is Lord of all and in your heart you are a Christian no matter the name on the church door, unless the church does not teach these things. Mine does (Catholic) and the Baptist church I went to for about 4 years did and so did the Pentacostal churches I spent the first 42 years of my life attending.

Jesus started one true Christian religion. So today there must be just one body, or group, of true worshipers of God. (John 4:23, 24; Ephesians 4:4, 5) The Bible teaches that only a few people are on the narrow road to life.—Matthew 7:13, 14.

So the question you have to ask yourself is, Are all religions pleasing to God, or is it just one?

How would you identify true Christians?

Dear Posh, and Eric,

I for one believe that there are many denominations because God DOES need
all those different avenues to draw people to him. Most of the
differences are of little concern to God, but of great concern to man
(meaning, men and women). Most of the detailed "doctrines" of various
denominations are not the direct teachings of Jesus, but the result of
church councils trying to nail down precise definitions of things that
Jesus did not clarify.

When these doctrines are questioned, many defend them by saying "It's a
mystery." I say, leave it at that. If it is a mystery, then let us
recognize that we don't KNOW the answer, that what God knows and does is
beyond what we can comprehend.

For example, Jesus did say to baptize in the name of Father, Son and Holy
Ghost, Jesus did say "I and the Father are one," but Jesus did NOT
say
"God is a Trinity" or that the image of God should be painted as three
heads growing out of one body.

I even find that worship at churches which hold to doctrines I cannot
accept brings me closer to God. But my home church is fellowship on a
different level.

Siarlys

________________________________________________________________
The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER!
Only $14.95/ month - visit www.juno.com to sign up today!
_______________________________________________
GCFL-discuss mailing list
GCFL-discuss@gcfl.net
http://gcfl.net/mailman/listinfo/gcfl-discuss
