<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Jeanene; I went back and reread the definition of
hydran last night and it does say that or imply that a child has a fair amount
of brain; so I've revised the definition. I've added the following
paragraph:<BR><BR>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'">A
child with Hydranencephaly usually but not always has an intact brainstem and
then small pieces of other parts of the brain. We’ve learned that the amount of
remaining brain doesn’t seem to have an impact on how alert the child is. Most
of the children learn to use their brainstem for functions previously thought to
be controlled by the cortex such as awareness. Although previous thought has
been that someone has to have a cortex in order to be aware and interact with
their environment children with Hydranencephaly prove otherwise. </SPAN></P>
