The Lone Arranger
Sent Wednesday, May 15, 2019

In a ranch kitchen sat a wood range for cooking and, as well, a second, older stove, rusting and decrepit, no longer useful except as a table. On top of the second appliance was a squat refrigerator to keep the melon and milk cool during the hot summer. It also held some beer.

The door opened and in came Cactus, one of the hands. He reached into the old refrigerator for a beer and held it down on the top to uncap it. The froth bubbled up and flowed down the cold bottle, and from there it dripped on to the old stove. The mess that resulted was foam, foam on the range, where the beer and the cantaloupe stay.
