I see based on other peoples responses that they are truly against their email being given out but the if idea is to be non anonymous for the discusion then they could alway just be removed from the list and to me that solves the problem. Their email address never gets given out and everybody else who doesn't care (or has faith in GCFL to not abuse their email) can still just discuss when they want. I dont think that people have to worry about spammers getting their email if the format is changed in the archive because most email grabbing programs are designed to search the web for email addresses based on the @address.com part so using at fixes that problem. another idea is just do "email at address" and not use .com

The "eric at drydenmutual.com" format is only used in the
archive, not the email. And of course we can't guarantee
that this will stop all spammers.

Six-year old Angie and her four-year old brother Joel were
sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang and talked
out loud. Finally, his big sister had had enough. "You're
not supposed to talk out loud in church." Why? Who's going
to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the
church and said, "See those two men standing by the door?
They're hushers."
