a. I want to welcome Bonnie, Sam, Lou, and any other newcomers whose names
I haven't caught.
b. I would like to request that everyone use the subject line carefully.
If you are changing the subject, change the subject line; if you are
sticking to the subject keep the subject line. I was following the
discussion about the April 1st funny and suddenly it was on a totally
unrealted subject.

Now to my main point:
c. As an Orthodox Jew, I thought Catholics would find this joke offensive.
However, I did a very unscientific survey and the two Catholics to whom I
showed it thought it was hysterically funny. Much of it went right over my
head, since I didn't know the details that it was parodying. A case in
point -- the line about "exclusive rights to the bible" -- but someone in
this discussion put it into hitorical perspetive.

Subject: [GCFL-discuss] April 1st funny

I had quite a few people complain about that April 1st
funny (Microsoft to Buy Catholic Church).

Some seemed to think it was serious, and others just
didn't like us poking fun at the Catholic Church. Maybe
with the recent problems they have been having they don't
need any more.

I figured it would be an OK funny since every Catholic
person I've run across seems to be easy going and have a
great sense of humor. I guess some more than others...

What do you folks think about it?
