It would not have been fair to begin the race again, it was no "sure thing" that the Brazilian would have been the winner had nothing occurred, and he did not actually win so could not be awarded a gold medal.
He is grateful that he won the Bronze Medal.
It seems to me as if the committee did as much as they could in a situation that a madman controlled.
Regarding the lunatic, Judgment Day IS coming, but that is no reason to interfere with a marathon, or a Grand Prix race. The man needs a psychaitric evaluation and some psychotropic drugs!
