Biblical references to hell are few, brief, unspecific, inconsistent, and
generally an aside to the main point of any chapter in which it appears.
The comprehensive pictures of hell that burden Christian theology
generally come from post-Biblical theologians, borrowing a great deal
from pagan Greek beliefs.
