In Gaelic, the letters sound a little different. Sean is the Irish
(Gaelic) spelling, while in Welsh it is Sion, and both mean the same as
John. (The Welsh spelling leads to a connection of John via Sion to Zion,
which may be an original intended meaning).
Si in Welsh is like sh in English. Same for se in Gaelic.
