The Bible always seems to reveal multiple purposes rather than teaching
one specific lesson. For example, although David was sharply reprimanded
by Nathan for arranging Uriah's death, and did extensive penance for it,
IF David had NOT lusted for and impregnated Bathsheba, their son,
SOLOMON, would never have been born.

I don't pretend to know what that all adds up to, in terms of what God
was thinking and what we should learn from it. But it certainly shows
that we don't understand it all.

EX: King David saw Bathsheba, who was Uriah's wife, desired her (lusted)
and took her while Uriah was away - impregnated her and finally had Uriah
killed to cover his sin.  Read II Sam. 11.
