Here is a little more perspective on Uzi, not contrary to what
greenBubble provided, but more along the same lines.

The submashine gun was designed by Col. Uzi Golan of the IDF, as a
replacement for the Sten gun, which had previously been the standard
submachine gun of the IDF. It was named for him.

In addition to former deputy chief of staff Uzi Dayyan, there was a
General Uzi Narkis, who played a part in the Six Day War.

The name is actually a short form of the name Uzziyahu, one of the kings
of the southern kingdom of Yehuda (I don't know how it is transliterated
into English), which means, approximately, "G-d is my strength".
