The president isn't allowed to say or do anything encouraging for people
whose homse are being foreclosed. Anything he did to either bribe or
require the banks to refinance, even though that would be better for the
financial health of the banks, in the long run, as well as the people
concerned, would be rejected as "socialism." Haven't you heard? The
standard political wisdom in the "liberal media" is that he has to act
like Bill Clinton and such up to the financial institutions and Wall
Street if he wants to be re-elected.

Unfortunately, he seems to be listening to them. I'll still vote for him
-- I know there is nothing better on the horizon. But he could have been
so much better than he has been. 

I have an idea: Jeanene and I will put together a mutually agreeable
manifesto, starting with the story of Jeanene's cul de sac. If we can get
Lance to sign on, we have a movement that will dwarf the Tea Party. If
John Price signs on, we have a Renewal of the American Nation.

I'm willing to sacrifice Hillary, Janet, the lady from Kansas, and Duncan
if that is necessary to put this across.
