Subject: How to Help Katrina victims
Obviously, Hurricane Katrina has made the headlines and we all are
wondering how we can help. Besides the normal donations to Red Cross
(http://www.redcross.org), Salvation Army
(http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn.nsf), America's Second
Harvest (http://www.secondharvest.org/default2.asp), and FEMA, I heard
on a local radio station this week that we can drop off all requested
items to any fire station, and groups (i.e. Turner Disaster Fund, AL)
will bring them down to the affected areas.
Items needed include:
non-perishable food items, can openers
clothing (used or new) - clean out those closets!
personal cleaning and hygiene products
diapers, wipes, formula etc for infants
batteries, flashlights
pet food and supplies
school supplies
Why not purchase discounted supplies from the closing Winn Dixie
stores, Costco, Sams or Wal-mart?
Here's some other ways to donate or volunteer -

Don't forget that giving blood is always needed, especially in a time of crisis.
