Siarlis

Happy Chanukah (belatedly -- Chanukah actually ended on Dec 15 this year.)

Christians are celebrating Christmas, not "the holidays." Jews are
celebrating Hannukah, not "the holidays." Muslims celebrate Ramadan
somewhere around this time of year, although it varies from early
	December to late January.

Your comment about Ramadan for Muslims missed one point. The Muslim
calendar, like the Jewish is lunar-based. Months generally alternate
between 29 and 30 days. A typical year is 354 days (give or take one day).
Since this is 11 days short of a solar year, their holidays constantly slip
backwards relative to the standard solar year. Over the course of about 30
years, Ramadan will be in all seasons at one time or another.

(BTW, to avoid this, the Jewish calendar has "leap years", such as the
current year, which have a thirteenth month. Inserting seven such "leap
months" every nineteen years guarantees that Passover will always be in the
spring.

(As a result, when a person is 19, 38, 57, etc. years old, his birthdays in
both calendars (Jewish and solar) will coincide.)

Although I suppose vegetarians could take a leaf from the "right to
life"
folks and announce that killing animals for food is just as worthy
of
criminal penalties as aborting human fetuses.

PETA, who recently became infamous for their comment that animal slaughter
is no different from people slaughter, as in the Holocaust, has pretty much
done exactly that. (Cute pun on leaf)
They have recently taken aim at Shechita, Jewish ritual slaughter with a
misleading video tape. What do you guys hear about it, if anything?
