[GCFL-discuss] Spain -- bombing in Madrid

The biggest tragedy of this is that  the bombing changed the outcome of the
Spanish election in the direction that the terrorist wanted.  
 

(In case you don't know:  Over the weekend the Spanish held national
elections.  The incumbent party was swept out of office in an upset vote.
The opposition campaigned on a promise to bring their troops home from
Iraq.)

 
This will undoubtedly beget further terrorism against Spain, not less.
 
I would like like to think that we Americans are made of sterner stuff, as
we saw on 9/12/01.  If, Heaven forbid, such an attack would occur on Oct 30
(4 days before OUR presidential election) the outcome would be a landslide
for Mr. Bush.
