Posh,
You identify a true Christian by their profession of Christ cruicified, Christ risen and Christ as their risen Lord.  If you have accept these things and believe that He is Lord of all and in your heart you are a Christian no matter the name on the church door, unless the church does not teach these things.  Mine does (Catholic) and the Baptist church I went to for about 4 years did and so did the Pentacostal churches I spent the first 42 years of my life attending.
