I'm glad someone was on top of verification. It would have been very
difficult to sort out without this kind of resource. Like most bogus
rumors, the first part of it is accurate: U.S. public health authorities
had counted on the British company, Chiron, for about half the supply,
and British health authorities DID shut Chiron down for unacceptably bad
sanitation. Apparently the rest was made up.
