Today an overly-groomed young man offered me a gospel tract as I was
transferring between city buses.

I replied, as I usually do to such offers, "Thank you, I prefer to read
the original for myself."

He said "What's the original?"

If you can't tell what I meant, then this isn't as funny as I think it
is.

P.S. greenBubble could point out, correctly, that I am not reading the
original, but a pretty good translation that destroys many essential
concepts, because one language just can't handle the world view implicit
in another language.
