  Loved your comment: "Our personal understanding of what God is trying to tell us through the Bible is inversely proportional to the number of gospel tracts we have read in the past ten years"? If the spirit tells you it is the right thing to do, go with it.
   
  Back in the days when I participated in organized religion, I belonged to a non-denominational discussion group, the members of which included both active and nonactive Catholics, Episcopalians, Mormons, Methodists, Baptists, Jews, and  people who did not participate in any organized religion. Those who had scriptures brought them to the meetings, a passage was chosen by concensus, and the wording and intent of the passage were discussed. It was a fascinating group, I learned a lot, and I was sorry to leave the group when I moved to another city. 
   
  One of the participants mentioning a passage that said when you are trying to make a decision, open your heart and mind to all possibilities, and then make a decision. If it is the right decision for you, you will have no doubt it is right. If it is not the right decision, you will have doubts and confusion, which indicate you need to give more consideration to the possibilities. 
   
  And that's my long story which you summed up so nicely with "If the spirit tells you it is the right thing to do, go with it." Very well said.
