I doubt that the first and last letters are enough.

hial
hlul

All these have the same first and last letters. Those in between count
for something in identifying the word. Scrambled words, with the correct
inside letters, and the first and last letters correctly placed, an
experienced reader can understand.

I throw a serious note at this amusing piece because there are theories
that children learning to read don't need to sound out words. They do, in
order to make the leap to what a word is, before they can read this kind
of typoglycemia.
