Might one also be a redneck if they have a recipe for serving groundhog
on Thanksgiving?
Does it make a difference if the family with the recipe has an inherited
tendency toward a dark complexion?
Miss Ruth says you have to cut up the meat, boil it for four hours, pour
off the water, then simmer in fresh water another hour, pour that off,
then simmer in barbecue sauce.
Her daughter thinks that is a disgusting idea, so I fear the family
recipe will not last long.
Anyone whose mother is named Miss Ruth might be a redneck though, right?
But I think they lived in Ohio.

P.S. One of my mother's high school teachers in Harriman TN said she was
"from the south," because she moved from Rockwood, about 20 miles south
on Route 27, to Harriman, which she considered as something other than
"the South."
