I always distrust comments by anyone about "these people," whoever "these
people" might be, but that very important point aside, what greenBubble
says about the population currently inhabiting the territories known as
"Palestinian" seems, from my distant study via published sources, to be
pretty accurate.

I have a good friend who plays the keyboard at his father's church, where
I often go on Sunday, who says similar things about "these people." The
people he is talking about are Americans with a high epidermal melanin
concentration, often known (in the quaint way American culture has of
classifying people) as "black." Ditto for my friend who plays the
keyboard, both his parents, and all his siblings. (NB: One of the latest
rumors about Obama is that he has fathered two black children.) Keith's
mother calls him "My little Republican." But he's really not. He despises
George W. Bush and all the damage he has done to this nation. Keith is
himself an example of the fact that "those lazy, thieving,
criminally-minded people" are not "African Americans" but those who
choose to be thugs, or who have been raised by thugs to be thugs, who
know no other way to be.

So with "the Palestinians." I'm sure the Arabic-speaking people who
looked forward to being immediately annexed in 1967 are not the people
greenBubble describes. I am also sure millions of people greenBubble
describes are quite real and present.

We could say similar things about "The Germans." However, Germans are for
the most part quite different people today. It took utter military
defeat, years of overwhelming military occupation, careful cultivation of
leadership among the German population who would build the kind of state
that we could live with, instead of needing to fight a war with them all
over again in another twenty years. That option probably isn't available
today with "The Palestinians."

Don't forget, those aggravatingly peaceful Scandinavians are direct
descendants of the Vikings, so once again, we are not talking about
hereditary characteristics, we are talking about economic opportunity,
social conditioning, etc.

But there are individual Palestinians who get along well with Israelis.
Any chance of forming them into a political party and building an army
that could kick butt with Hamas?

When you live in a refugee camp and grow up in a garbage dump, it can be
difficult to grasp such notions as "this shiny new equipment is mine, and
I can use it to buy a nice house and feed my family."
