[GCFL-discuss] Best of the Worst Country/Western Song Titles

The only one I recognized was <does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight> which I grew up with in the early sixties.
The memory is coming back to me, a bit fuzzy.  We were in someone's house, a cousin or a family friend, and the kid my age had it as a single and set the record player to play it over and over.

At first, I thought everything on this list was made up for effect.

But then I recognized one I used to hear on the radio:

"Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Through The Goalposts Of Life"
Yeah, that was a dud. I'm not sure what I thought of God when I used to hear that on the radio (it wasn't around for long), but it still sounds dumb now.

I've heard this one on the radio too, and it wasn't half bad:

"I'm The Only Hell Mama Ever Raised" (Doing life without parole, if I recall right)



I don't know if this one is a real song, but you know what? It's funny:

"My John Deere Was Breaking Your Field, While Your Dear John Was Breaking My Heart"

I kind of liked this one too...

"Thank God And Greyhound She's Gone"


So were all the rest of those titles actually put to music and sung? Were they recorded? Did anything come of it all?


When it comes to country, I'm more into old Norman Blake mp3, but I'll never forget the best song of the 80s, "Dance Little Jean."
