In Nashville, a young man went to a well-known music row store and purchased a rhythm guitar. It just so happened that on that particular day there was a famous guitar picker in the store. Mr. James Opperknockity autographed the hollow body and tuned the guitar for the young man. Then he cautioned the young fellow, don't bump it or let it fall because it would knock it out of tune.

Carefully the new owner of the instrument carried his prize to the car and stowed it away. On the way home, a careless driver pulled out in front of the young man and he was obliged to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident, throwing the new guitar to the floor of the car.

Sure enough, the new guitar was hopelessly out of tune. In desperation, he took it right back to the store and asked Mr. Opperknockity to please tune it for him once more. The famous picker refused, politely but firmly. He would not do it, no matter how the young musician begged.

"Why? Why won't you tune it for me?" the young man asked.

"Because, Opperknockity only tunes once!" he said.

(Lloyd: I heard Archie Campbell on Hee-Haw tell this years ago!)

Received from Lloyd Lance.
